In a keynote speech this week, Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, called for solidarity and action world wide to turn 2012 into a year of healing. In giving her speech in Berlin, Lagarde pointed out to Germany to provide leadership during this time of increased uncertainty and decreased willingness to lend. She also encouraged countries with surpluses, such as China, to support global growth.
