As the situation in Syria continued to worsen this week, the Arab League decided to halt its monitoring mission despite Syria’s approval of an extension of the mission for a month. In response, Syria accused the Arab League of disregarding the reports of crimes perpetrated by armed groups to focus only on the state’s security operations. Additionally, the Syrian Foreign Ministry lashed out at western influences for flagrantly hostile statements towards Syria, noting that the statements run parallel to violent terrorist attacks.
