The U.S. military reached several milestones recently. In recognizing that the battlefield does not have traditional front lines and exits like they once did, the Department of Defense (DoD) opened up more career opportunities for women in the U.S. military. The changes are twofold: first, abolishing the restriction on assigning women to locations where ground combat troops operate, and second, selectively abolishing the restriction on assigning women to ground combat units below the brigade level.
